Legal Question in Personal Injury in Maryland
Signed Releases
Am helping a friend with a book of poetry about his life. In it he mentions family members. Because of the subject content, the book could be embarrassing to the family. Should he write this book under an assumed name? Would the family have legal recourse if his identity became known? What advice would you give as to signed releases if they would even sign them?

Re: Signed Releases
Several concerns come to mind.
Defamation could be a result. This is the publication of a falsehood. Publication could occur in writing or orally when discussing the book. In some cases damages are presumed.
Disclosure of confidential information is another possibility. This would be information that is known through a confidential relationship.
Invasion of privacy is yet another. An expectation analysis would apply.
