Re: Yoga Injury

In all likelihood you signed a release before you began participating in the yoga class. It's purpose was to prevent you from suing the yoga teacher if you got hurt or developed problems from the yoga. MD courts have upheld such releases as valid.

Even if you didn't sign a release, it would be difficult to prove that the yoga teacher is legally responsible for your condition. To do so, you would have to prove that the instruction was done negligently, in other words, not in conformity with yoga teaching standards. The fact that you developed dizziness, in and of itself, doesn't make the teacher liable, even if your problem can be medically related to the class. Presumably there were others in the class who didn't have this problem.

The only possibility basis for liability would be if you disclosed a medical condition to the teacher before starting the class which should have caused him/her to recommend against your taking the class, and they failed to do so.
