Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Maryland

Animal

Last week my dog got off of the chain and was picked up by Montgomery County Maryland Animal Rescue. I am now being presented with a bill of over $300 for shelter and veterinary services which I do not have. I was called this morning and told that if I do not come up with the money by 5:00 this evening, the dog would be euthanized. Is there anything I can do to stop this and pay the bill later? I posed this question to them and was told no. Please help!

Re: Animal

Have you spoken to the head of the shelter about a payment plan? It seems strange that they would be so quick to threaten euthanasia. Perhaps if you could immediately come up with a significant part of the bill, they would work with you.

Beyond that, you could go to court and seek to enjoin the animal shelter, but this would probably only buy you a little time and might not be successful. Of course to try this through an attorney would apparently be beyond your financial means.
