Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Maryland

Assignment of Deed of Trust. In reference to my original question. It is an assignment of deed of trust, but what I don't understand is that it says the assignee is Citi Mortgage, which is the current Mortgage Co. So, if they already have the loan, why would they need to create another assignment.

Citi Mortgage may be an offshoot of Citibank NA which is the name on the original deed of trust. You should check the language of the original d/t to see how the mortgagee is named. Or possibly Citi sold your original mortgage and continued to service it, and now has taken it back from the previous mortgagee.
