Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Maryland

I bought a motorcycle from a guy. Gave him cash. He said the title was clear but it ended up having a lien on it. Now I have the vehicle and the guy wont pay the lien off because he says he has no money. What should i do.

If you want to keep the motorcycle, you will have to pay the lien off yourself. If you pay off the lien, your only way to force the seller to reimburse you is to sue him.

If you don't want the headache, you will need to return the bike to the seller and receive a refund directly from him. If the seller cannot provide you a refund, I would not return the bike to him. Instead, you can sue the seller for the amount you paid him for the bike and once you have a judgment in hand, you can return the bike to the lien holder.

Best of luck.*******The above is for informational purposes only and does not create an attorney-client privilege.*******
