Carpet Repair

Is a landlord required to shampoo carpet in an apartment after a tennant moves out or can they do that and later charge the previous tennant for the service?

An apartment can be rented in a condition that is suitable for use. If a landlord is attempting to charge you for cleaning, such being beyond ordinary use, then you should contest this under the terms of your leasing agreement. Any damage or odor caused by pets that you may have had in the apartment may change teh outcome. This is a matter that you should seek an attorney's representation letter.
