Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Maryland
Code Inspections and Enforcement.
I am a young home owner in Baltimore County and today I recieved a correction notice from the Code Enforcement and Inspection Division that basically stated I must remove the recliner and refrigerator I keep on my back deck or I will be fined $200 and charged for the county to remove them. I use both the recliner and fridge on a regular basis, so I don't understand where the county has the right to tell me to remove my own property from my yard. I have a feeling someone in the neighborhood called to complain because I am a young homeowner and I guess people think I am a trouble maker. But I work 40 hours a week and am doing what I have to do to survive. Are they allowed to tell me to get rid of the stuff since it's my property?

Re: Code Inspections and Enforcement.
Enforcement of local code is can be disputed where a substaited basis for variance exists. I do not believe this is such an example. You may want to consider modifying your use in a manner that best conforms with code.
