Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Maryland

I am a contractor in Maryland. I have a signed contract to replace a homeowners roof. It was signed over a month ago. The start date was supposed to be Aug. 17. They have since pushed it back a week and have now said that they are getting it done by a friend or the state is going to do it. Either way I want to know what is there for me to do?

Thanks

If you can prove damages, you have a civil claim against the homeowner. Such damages would exist if you turned down other work in expectation of doing this job, or if you incurred any expenses for materials that you cannot otherwise use.
