Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Maryland

Take a Name Off a Deed

How do I take my ex-wife's name off the deed to our home? The mortgage loan is solely in my name. I no longer live there and she still does but is paying the mortgage payments late or not at all. This is messing up my credit. The divorce decree CLEARLY states that I am not responsible for paying her expenses or martgage at that house. I told her that I am going to sell the house and she told me that I can't sell the house because both our names are on the deed. Yet, she's not on the loan. I feel like I'm stuck paying for a house she lives in. How do I take her off the deed so I can sell the house to pay the loan off?

You actually probably need to higher an attorney to guide you through this process. In the alternative, you can try one of the many legal aid alternatives in Maryland. Depending on what county you live in, there may consultations available to you at the court house or elsewhere.

I know this is frustrating. Feel free to contact me if you need additional help.
