Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Maryland

Definition of ''Condemn''

I own a condo that was declared unsafe by the County and a Engineering firm. During an evaluation of the structure, it was found that the building had structural damage. It so happend that my unit was vacant at the time and a letter issued by the County told residenced that no additional weight could be added to the structure. This is unfair and I need to know if one out of 15 units can be declared ''condemned'' when they all share the same problem.

Thanks

The fact that your unit was condemned doesn't mean that the others won't be or shouldn't be. Each unit is a separate legal entity in the eyes of the county. Since there is presumably a common problem, the owners association should get together and figure out a solution. Hopefully you all have budgeted for reserves in your condo fees that could resolve such a problem.
