Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Maryland
Domestic Domain
People(tenents) involved have lived on farm in house provided, rent free, for 25 years. Farm owners(landlords) are older, child moves to farm, takes over, even to get power of attorney from parents, who are 80+ years of age. Basically child is ready to "clean house" on farm. Do the (tenants), who have lived there 25+ years with no formal contract or lease signed by anyone, have any rights to protect themselves ? They have never paid rent , and have lived in the same house , is there anything they can do to insure their place to live? Is domestic domain a enforcable law in Maryland?

Re: Domestic Domain
Eminent domain is available in MD, but not under these circumstances. It sounds like these tenants have had permission, which defeats an eminent domain claim. The tenants have few if any rights.
