Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Maryland

Hello,

I recently went to settlement for my father's house for his estate. The title company used was horrible. I would like to report their conduct. Who would I go too? Real estate board?

Thanks

Since title companies that write title insurance policies must be licensed by the Maryland Insurance Administration, you might try contacting them. However, it sounds like you were the seller and therefore neither the party that hired the title company, nor the recipient of a title insurance policy. So MIA may direct you elsewhere. They aren't realtors, so the real estate board would not have jurisdiction. Although you were probably dealing with an attorney insofar as the conduct of the settlement, there would not have been a traditional attorney-client relationship established between you and them, so I don't think the Attorney Grievance Commission would get involved either, but you could call them for other suggestions.
