Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Maryland

My HOA board is moving forward with a pond renovation project expenditures based on approval for an assessment only. Not only that, since the cost can't be supported in the budget, they are moving to run electric to a homeowners house to supply an electric pump. They are not using licences, insured or bonded staff. Can they be stopped? And aren't homeowners liable for any injuries? We don't carry liability insurance.

You need to consult your HOA bylaws to determine the procedure for requesting a special meeting to address these issues. If the project was not authorized by the membership or if the board exceeded its authority, you ought to be able to stop it by majority vote. Any contractors hired for this project should be licensed and bonded.
