Home Builders Liability

I bought a house in 2004 and it got flooded by my sprinkler system in Dec of 2008. I found out that the sprinkler system was recalled way back in 1998 -2000 but the builder never notified the community/home owners. The house was built in 1997. My neigbours house had the same accident two weeks after mine and i was told that the builder came out to replace his entire house. I have called the builder and they have refused to do the same for me, What are my options at this point.

First of all, see if you are covered under your homeowner's policy. If not, you will probably have to sue the builder and possibly the manufacturer of the sprinkler system.
