Re: homestead act
First of all, you will have to open an estate in the county where your cousin was living when he died. One or more of you will have to request appointment as estate personal representative. Once that appointment is made by the Register of Wills, you will have the authority to terminate the tenancy of the occupant of the property. You can then put the house on the market and when it's sold, divide the proceeds among you. You would be well advised to retain an experienced estate attorney to help you through this process, as there are many steps that must be taken along the way.
