Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Maryland

Hostage Property

Home owner has evicted me from a home where I was previously a resident (I was not a tenant; home owner and I previously lived there as a couple). Some or all of my property (furniture, etc.) may have been destroyed; impossible to know because locks have been changed. Curious as to options for recovering my property from home owner's premises. Thank you.

Re: Hostage Property

If the owner won't return your property voluntarily you can file a court action to recover your property known as a replevin. If he/she destroyed your property due to negligence or failure to take care of it, you could sue for damages, but used items are hard to prove in terms of value.
