What are my rights if the co-owner of the property walks out on the home we brought together, leaving me with bills in my name for repairs we made to the property such as remodeling expenses, (eg. roof replacement, kitchen and bath remodeling, installation of air conditioning.)? Can I sue for his share of the cost of these? Is this something I can do in civil court? What can I do to force him to agree to put the home on the market?

Co-ownership problems
While co-owners are not required to share equally in the expenses of maintaining the property, there are minimum requirements. Andif the person agreed to share in these expensess/he could be held liable. You can force a sale by petitioning a court for a sale in lieuof partition, and you may be able to have theseexpenses allocated when the proceeds are distributed.
