Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Maryland

I have a lease that ends on dec 31, 2015. My landlord is trying to sell the house right now. Will my lease be voided? What rights do I have as a renter in the state of Maryland?

Dear Renter: I'm not admitted to practice law in the state of MD, but the laws are very much the same in most states, so here's my 2 cents worth:

With a lease, your landlord must honor your right to contiue to occuy and nejoy the leased premises until the end of the lease period in December, 2015. As an alternative, hthe landlord can buy you out, that is, pay for terinating early if the purchaser wants immediate occupancy. Otherwise any sale must be with your right to contnue to occupy; ypou'll merely pay your monthly rent to the purchaser.

When in doubt, retain the services of an experienced real estate attorney locally.

Good luck!

Sincerely,
