Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Maryland

lien on out of state property?

Can the Md courts put/allow a lien on a WV property?

My ex used my share of marital equity to purchase a home in WV (titled in someone else's name). I have the bank documents showing the electronic transfer from his account in MD to the title company in WV.

Or would I need to go to WV?

Only a WV court can lien a WV property. If you obtain a money judgment against your ex in a MD divorce, you can file the judgment in WV. But if the WV property is not titled in his name, you won't be able to lien it. If you can find a bank account in his name, you could attach that, or if he's drawing a paycheck, you could file a wage garnishment against his employer.
