Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Maryland
I lost a house in bankruptcy years ago but did not realize that the bank never foreclosed. It was sold in a Tax Sale and the buyer has now submitted a petition to the court to foreclose the right of redemption on the house. Even so, the county has sent me a summons to court for a property maintenance citation because the house was burned by vandals and looks terrible and they want it removed. It will cost $5,000 to do that. The people who bought it at the tax sale did so AFTER the fire had taken place. I do not want to spend money on a property that I do not want and that will be owned by another party as soon as the judge signs their petition. What should I do? My trial is September 3, 2015.

Dear Bankrupt: Contact your bsakruptcy attorney ASAP, advise him of the clatest complait, etc. ,and either have him or her advise the court, in writing of your discharge, or file your Notice of Discharge by the Bankruptcy Court with the Court now serving you with a summons.
Your discharge in bankruptcy serves as an absolute bar to the claim of the bank and the municipality.. Good luck!
