Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Maryland
Mortgage Company taking advantage of me
I just received a $250.000 bill for credit checks from a mortgage company after I told them I was going with a different company. I never gave them permission to run my credit at all, except the very first time.
Besides all the unexplained credit check's, they also never explained the loan to me leaving out that there was a ''point'' included with it. They never transferred my loan to the new company like I asked them too, they wanted me to make up a fake security deposit check, and they threatened me with lawyers. I have written evidence of all the instances I listed above.
Should I pay the 250.00 bill?
Do I have a case for Mortgage fraud, or improper processes? I was definately emotionally hurt by this mortgage company

A typical credit report fee is $10-15. They are trying to take advantage of you because you took your business elsewhere. I doubt they'll pursue you if you ignore the bill.
