Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Maryland

My neighbor has spruce trees which over hang in my yard. I spoke with the neighbor about cutting them back. He agreed to it. But, now that I did it, he is mad. What are his responsibilities as far as maintaining his trees and preventing overgrowth into my yard? Can he sue me for cutting the limbs back on my property line?

He can, but you had a right to trim the trees to the extent they overhung your property.

If it comes over onto your property, then you can cut them. This is your neighbor, so maybe you should consider how much you desire to maintain the peace and work it out.
