What is the minimum time frame required by law for a tenant to give notice to his landlord on a month to month lease in Baltimore, MD?

Unless you had an earlier written lease which provided for a different notice requirement, you must give notice at least 30 days in advance. Technically, this means before the beginning of the last month that you want to occupy the premises. Each month is a distinct rental period for which you owe rent. If you are renting on a calendar month basis (i.e., Sept. 1-30, etc), you would have had to advise the landlord in writing by the end of August in order to terminate the lease by the end of September.
