Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Maryland

Owners rights to walk through house

I am renting a townhome from the owner. The owners sent me a letter stating they want to "come up to the house". Do they have the right to walk through the house without a reason? There are no maintenance problems for them to take care of, and I have not requested them to come to the house. Also, do I have the right to ask them why they want to come to the house?

I have been living in the house for nine months and they have never come up before. PLease help me.

Re: Owners rights to walk through house

Most leases provide this right to the landlord on reasonable notice. If not, you might still want to consider allowing the inspection, as it is only fair that they ought to be able to check on the condition of their (substantial) investment, and good relations with your landlord are worth keeping. But if the right is not in the lease, they do not have a general right to enter the premises.
