Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Maryland
Property Rights and Clean up
I have a neighbor, and her palm tree plus bushes growth real tall. Everytime it rains or it snows, the palm tree and the bushes bend over my fence that I could not even walk into my backyard through the fence gate. I did confront her few months ago, and she did not do anything to the tree or bushes. I finally helped her to cut down the branches and left them neatly beside the fence, which would not interfere or endanger to anything. She wrote me a note and asked me to clean up or she'll take action.
My question is that if it is my responsibility to clean up those branches after I helped her cut them? Is there a law that state such thing? Thanks.

Re: Property Rights and Clean up
I am assuming from your query that the removed vegetation was left on her side of the property. I don't think you have any responsibility to remove what is in essence her debris from her property. I don't know what action she is contemplating, but she has no basis for expecting you to take care of this. There is no specific law that you can look up to answer your question, but common law provides guidance to answer it.
