Re: renters rights
Your question is founded upon the term of the lease, periodicity (i.e., year-to-year, month-to-month, etc.), provisions for hold-over tenancy, and the location of the property (since rules vary by county).
On 01/23/03 I answered another question concerning a similar matter where a landlord wanted to re-take possession of the property, please see that response for further information.
Re: renters rights
The lease passes to the new owner. He is to either honor your right to stay until the 15th or pay you back 12 days rent plus your security deposit. Feel free to give any of the attorneys participating on this bulletin board a call for further advice.
