Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Maryland

Rights after foreclosure

I lost my property to foreclosure. I am still receiving a rent check from one of the tenents. What are the consequences if I keep the money?

Re: Rights after foreclosure

Tenant would have a right to sue you for the money back, in addition to whatever damages are suffered due to your breach of the lease by having the property foreclosed out from under him/her. Probably not a wise thing to do, because keeping the money is the kind of thing that might cause someone to sue that otherwise wouldn't. It is also possible that a prosecutor could treat it as a criminal act, perhaps receiving money under false pretenses or the like.
