Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Maryland

Termination of Lease

I have purchased a house hence i need to break my lease. The contract says I have to give 2 months notice and pay extra 2 months rent to get out of the lease. Does this apply to me since i know in some states if you buy a house you are allowed to Terminate your Lease without any panelty.

The reason I am forced to buy a house is that when I put in a request for something to be done it takes a long time for my request to be met. For example changing the vinyl carpet in my kitchen took 5 months, clearing my carpet took more ttan four months.

Re: Termination of Lease

Sorry, there's no legal right in MD to break a lease simply because you've decided to buy a house. If your lease still has several months to run, you'll have to comply with the lease termination provisions. Of course, if you were on a month to month basis after completing the end of the initial lease period, you'd only have to give thirty days' notice.
