Undisclosed and hidden code violations
Purchased my house 3 years ago; last week I discovered, 6 instances of Electric code violations hidden beneath the floor in the attic; also an electrician informed me today of another serious code violation in the wiring; inside the main electric panel; which the home inspector did not discover. The x husband of the seller in formed me after the sale that there had been a fire in the house and several repairs were made; including new electric wiring done by a contractor they hired. All was presumable inspected by a fire marshal. The house was sold as is with a disclaimer in May 2005 Do I have any recourse to compensation for needed repairs?

If the repairs passed inspection, you really don't have much recourse, but it sounds like they weren't. So if you can establish that the seller knew that the repairs weren't done to code, you could have the basis for a claim. But it will be extremely difficult to establish that, especially at this late date. You can be sure the seller will claim no knowledge of any problems.
