Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Maryland
A vehicle was given to me as a gift and shortly after, the individual went to jail. Now after some time, this individual claims to want to vehicle back and he claims that he will report to the police that I stole his vehicle in the first place. Can he do that and if so, what are my next steps? Moreover, he broke a tv in my apartment and he claims that he will report to the police that I vandalized his tv but it is in my apartment and it belongs to me. He has been staying in the apartment for more than 30 days.

I doubt the police will intervene. They will tell the two of you to resolve it in civil court. If there was an intention to give you the vehicle to own, the title should have been signed over to you so you could register it in your own name. If this didn't happen, it casts doubt on whether your "friend" loaned it to you to use while he was incarcerated, or meant it as a permanent transfer. As for the tv, again it's a civil matter as to who purchased it or brought it into the apartment. If the apartment is only leased to you, you could order him to leave and if he refuses go to court to have him evicted.
