Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Maryland

Verizon laid a cable through my property for about 300 yards. I thought a profit making company like Verizon needed my permission to do that. I didn't know anything about it until I came home from work.

Yes, a utility company needs permission. The utility companies get permission by means of easements recorded in the land records. Either you or a prior owner or the original developer may have given away easement rights. Generally these do not expire. You may wish to check your chain of title for the property to see what easements exist on your property.
