Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Maryland

Three years ago I moved to Maryland with my then pregnant girlfriend, after months of trying to find a job I had to leave and went to my native Mississippi to work, she wouldn't leave her parents. I left pretty much everything I own there intending to return. Shortly after leaving it was obvious she didn't want me back up there so we split up. Now two years later, someone called my mom and wants the combination to my gun safe(which I left locked)with the guns in it, that they had bought it. My question is, at what point is something concidered "abandoned"? I have been paying child support for my son and they could have contacted me or my family. Did they have the legal right to sell my things?

Sincerely,

Shain Keith

No, unless they sent you a written notice that unless you made some claim to the property within a certain period of time, and you ignored that warning. By the same token, when the relationship ended you should have made arrangements to recover your property. You should do that as soon as possible.
