Legal Question in Social Security Law in Maryland

Social Security

I live in Maryland but am a originally from Canada.

I intend to move back to Canada in 6 years.

In Canada there is free heath care and pension. (Actually taxes are a lot higher there, so its not really ''free'')

Since I've paid into the US social security and medicare system from my earnings for many years and will never use them is there any way that I can get some of this money back after I'm no longer a resident of the US ?

Please advise.

SSA does not give refunds. But you may receive a credit for what you paid in to the US SS from the Canadian SS. It depends on the terms of any reciprocal agreement. You may have a right to US SS when you retire depending on what you paid in and when. The only way to know is to contact both agencies and run the numbers.
