socialsecurity death benefits for a minor
can my granddaughter still get her benefits if she moves out of her mother's house and lives with someone other than a relative. She will be 18 this year

If her father is deceased, I think you mean Survivors' Benefits:
Unmarried children who are under age 18 (or up to age 19 if they are still attending high school full time) can receive survivors' benefits. So her benefit may end this year if she turns 18.
This benefit is generally paid to the surviving custodial parent. I'd bet that your grandchild is not receiving a check rather her mother is getting the money. So if she moves out, a new payee may need to be appointed. But without a change in legal custody there may be problems.
