SSI Over payment

I was over paid about 35K from SSI, I appealed because I do not have the money, I do owe the money but I only make enough to get by..is there anything I can do?

You were correct to appeal because the SSA has been know to make mistakes in calculating an overpayment. First, determine why SSA says you were overpaid. Did you work and continue to collect? Did SSA fail to notify you of your right to a trial work period? ... and continue to pay you?

Next, demand a complete accounting for the months SSA alleges that you were overpaid.

In addition to questioning the reasons and the accounting, file for a Waiver. Ask for form SSA-632. Fill it out and file it as soon as you can. he waiver form basically says that the overpayment should be waived because you do not have sufficient income to pay.
