Legal Question in Telecomm Law in Maryland

Multiple unwanted calls

I place a screening machine on my phone line that intercepts calls by stating in a recorded message ''You have reach the Screen Machine and not an answering machine. Notice to all solicitors; place this name and number on your do-not-call list. It is now a federal offense to make this telephone ring. Now personal and invited business callers press 5 on you touch tone phone.'' My caller ID says unknown name and number and they continue to call without leaving a message. They call 3-7 times a day. What can I do to stop these calls?

Re: Multiple unwanted calls

You are not alone. Everybody in the US receives calls that show up on caller ID with no name available. Soon new FCC regulations will require caller ID to be transmitted. You can try call trace, by pressing *57, which may trace the call, although you will need a subpoena to get Verizon to give you the call trace results. There is a charge for successful call traces. You can always try answering the phone one time and find out who it is that is calling you.
