bills following an accident

when you are in an accident how can the bills add up $40,000 if the car was fixed. your license was suspended. you spent time in jail too. recently tried to get my license reinstated and i was told i had to pay this amount to the driver / insurance company, whoever first. they wanted $5000 up front and $200 a week thereafter.

Re: bills following an accident

When you drive without a license, you drive WITHOUT insurance. If this accident was your fault and your insurance would have normally been liable, they may decide not to pay out (because your license was suspended). Then, maybe the other insurer sued you.

As far as your license being ineligible for reinstatement, if the other party's insurance company got a judgment against you in their lawsuit, your license will be suspended until you pay the judgment.

You should find out whether you've been sued, and consult a lawyer.
