Legal Question in Traffic Law in Maryland
Car towed by private company
My car has been towed out of the parking lot of the apartment complex I live in. The car did not have license plates on it becuase I recently put the plates on a different car. Can the company legally tow the car since it is in a private lot?

Re: Car towed by private company
It depends on who authorized the towing of your car. If it was the lot owner then the Maryland Law Provides: Before towing or removing the vehicle, shall have authorization of the parking lot owner which shall include:
(i) The name of the person authorizing the tow or removal; and
(ii) A statement that the vehicle is being towed or removed at the request of the parking lot owner;
