Legal Question in Traffic Law in Maryland
Should I contest a traffic ticket
No points on record. Was given a citation for $70 doing 49mph in a 30mph zone. Should I contest this in court. I have been told this means 5 points on my record. Will this fall under the car insurance company's radar (Allstate)?
TIA

Re: Should I contest a traffic ticket
Yes, you should strongly consider appearing for the ticket and decide whether you want an attorney to represent you. Numerous reasons support your appearance (e.g., the officer may not show, you may be granted a PBJ). In most probablilty the points will result in your insurance rate increasing, see your policy for information as to how much this will cost. Evaluate whether the increase in insurance is worth hiring an attorney.
