Legal Question in Traffic Law in Maryland

Court Appointed Attorney

The Maryland courts rescheduled a pre-trial hearing for

my husband driving on suspended. He received 10 tickets

due to numerous violation. driving on suspended, wrong tags on truck, no inspection sticker. Since then he has registered his truck correct tags. When he goes to court today he is requested a court appointed attorney. Will the court grant him that. He still needs to go to Child Support office to obtain a form that he can take to dmv that will allow him to get is license to drive will working.

I just wondered if the courts would give him a continuance.

Will the judge take into consideration that he has corrected a lot of the citations that were issued to him.

Re: Court Appointed Attorney

Your question is loaded with alot of unknowns. What did he get tickets for? Did he take a PBJ on any violations? What matters are resolved before court?

Statute specifies what occurs where a dirver's license was suspended for non-payment of child support. OCSE does not always follow the statute due to "administrative difficulties".

A public defender is a qualified attorney. However, do not expect that a public defender will take your husband's matter to the utmost of his defense. And, MVA matters still lie. A public defender usually will not attend to MVA matters or have the docket reflect entries that may reduce MVA actions.

Whether the judge will account for his actions to rectify his situation is up to the judge and the manner in which the issues are presented to the judge.

From the sound of it, you may want to consider hiring an attorney to assist you. Loss of a driver's license can be costly in many ways as well as inconvenient.
