Legal Question in Traffic Law in Maryland

Extension letter to court

Hello. I would like some advice about extension letters. I have 2 tickets for traffic violation and I am going to court, but I have not found an affordable lawyer yet, I going to court alone, and I would like to request an extension of time to the Court, but I don't know how to write it.

Re: Extension letter to court

You need to file a Motion for Continuance. He shoots your local District Court office and see the clerk -- they have blank Motion forms that you can fill in. Make sure that you give the court a legitimate reason why he will not be able to attend the trial. Also, supply copies of any documentation that may support your need for continuance. Worst-case scenario, especially if this is the first request for postponement, if you are still looking for an attorney - That would be a valid reason.

Note *** - This response is intended for general information purposes only and not as legal advice and does not constitute an attorney-client relationship with the sender. Since each person's situation is different, it would be impossible and unethical to give legal advice without a full conference as an attorney/client relationship would require, obtaining in-depth facts particular to that case.
