Legal Question in Traffic Law in Maryland

Is Failure to Display Registration Card on Demand a Moving Violation?

I was pulled over this morning, clocked at 73 in a 55. When asked for my license and registration, I was able to produce my license rather quickly but had trouble finding my registration (I found it while he was writing the ticket). He ended up giving me ''Failure to Display Registration Card on Demand.'' I remember that he said speeding would have been 2 points, but I can't figure out if any points will be assessed for this if I pay it. I assume that if it's a moving violation, that 1 point will be assesed. Is it a moving violation, and will I have any points if I just pay it?

This offense carries no points but I believe insurance companies consider any traffic offense to add half a point to your insurance record. Given that you actually had the reg. card, you may consider going to court. In addition, you could attempt to beat the speed ticket or get a PBJ

Failure to Display Registration Card does not carry any points. Note - paying the fine is the same as admitting guilt and the Failure to Display Registration Card will appear on your MVA record.
