Legal Question in Traffic Law in Maryland

Fighting a speeding ticket in MD

I want to fight a speeding ticket in MD. I hope to at least plead down the charge to one with no points. If I plead not guilty, does the court allow for a lesser charge, or do I need to plead guilty and request a hearing for leniency? I am concerned over pleading guilty, since I don't know if judges in MD typically reduce traffic fines.

It all depends on the Judge. However, you should

know that judges do not have the power to reduce points.

What they do have the power to do is reduce the speed in which you

were caught, thus reducing points or give you probation before

judgment (PBJ) were no points are assessed. Usually, judges look at

your driving record to make this determination. Hope this has been helpful.

Good luck.
