Legal Question in Traffic Law in Maryland
Guilty with explanation
I received a ticket for speeding last week. I know I was going about 35 mph across most of the rural road because I travel it frequently. My daughter turned on the radio when we were going up the last hill before the stop sign. Present Bush was speaking about the military. I must have sped up and was going 46 mph. Speed limit is 30.
In a round about way the officer suggested I plea guilt with explanation. I did not give her an explanation at the time I was stopped and was surprised when she discussed my options. (I have 2 sons in the military and have, like most of us in the USA, been under stress). What is a reasonable explanation for a judge when one pleads ''Guilty with explanation?''

Guilty with explanation...Maybe...
Two weeks ago I received a phone call with a sobbing
woman asking to hire an attorney. She was my wife with her first
speeding ticket. Given her case, I will file an appearance on her behalf and work with
the State's Attorney to get a deal. She will not respond with "Guilty" and seek an explanation (or
what is referred to in lawyer-ease as allocution). Rather, she will face trial with a possible plea on that date
and only after the State's Attorney has assured a "good" deal.
Depending on the location of trial, I am available for a modest fee to represent you as well.
I am available for other legal matters including trusts and estates.
