Legal Question in Traffic Law in Maryland
Hit and run - come back
If you hit a parked car but don't stop I guess that's a hit and run. If you decide to find the car's owner (say it was in front of a house) and admit guilt, he could still call the police and you can get charged with the hit and run. What recourse does a repentant person have? Thanks for any advice.

This depends on the circumstances, but the law only requires that you stop as close as possible to the scene and either contact the owner or the police, and that you provide certain information. This is a serious jailable offense that also carries a lot of points on your license, and oftentimes is taken very seriously by the State's Attorney. You should consult with an attorney.
