Legal Question in Traffic Law in Maryland

First offense Driving without a Liscense

I was pulled over for speeding 34 in a 25. I was also arrested for driving withou being liscensed. I explained that i have been on my own for two years since i was 17 and that i havent been able to afford the required classes for MD rookie driver program. I can afford them now, because i have a job and need to get a propper liscense, last week i got my learners so i am heading in the right direction. I am wondering if i will need a lawyer... the max is $500.00 and/or jail time.

This is my first offense... do you think it is probable that i will recieve jail time?

Re: First offense Driving without a Liscense

This depends highly on where you are going to court (judge and prosecutor). You probably won't go to jail, but you should talk to a defense lawyer who may be able to get the serious charge dropped.

First offense Driving without a License

Although you probably won't receive jail time, a conviction can seriously hamper getting licensed. Talk to a criminal defense lawyer, like myself, before going to Court.
