Legal Question in Traffic Law in Maryland
speeding ticket
I got a ticket of $160.00 in Maryland, making a 77mph on a 55mph. This is my first ticket in 10yrs of driving. Do i need a lawyer for this because i'm trying to avoid points on my records. if i dont need a lawyer how do i get out of the this?

Re: speeding ticket
Having a lawyer can be very helpful. You are possibly a candidate for a special disposition where you would pay a fine but get no points.

Re: speeding ticket
The lawyer could be helpful in negotiating a plea to a lesser charge (with fewer points). However, it's unlikely that the Maryland traffic court would have any control over the MVA's assessing points against your driving record for whatever offense you're convicted of.
