Legal Question in Traffic Law in Maryland

Speeding Ticket

I received a speeding ticket in Maryland and I was 74 MPH in a 55 MPH zone and I have a fine of $75.00. I would like to know is it probable to pay the fine and not get any points awarded, so my insurance won't go up? Also, how many points am I looking at? Lastly, is it worth me getting an attorney?

Re: Speeding Ticket

By paying the fine on a speeding ticket, you are admitting guilt and will therefore get the points. For 19 miles over the limit, the points are 2. A lawyer can assist you in getting probation before judgment to keep the points off your record. You should consult with one.

Re: Speeding Ticket

By paying the fine you automatically get 2 points and these points will affect your automobile insurance where the company becomes knowledgable. Many insurance companies routinely investigate all insureds upon renewal and others do not.

Representation for this matter can be beneficial. Depending on the location of the offense (and the locale of the resulting District Court trial), my fees are very reasonable. If you have other offenses, please obtain a MVA driving record and fax to (410) 799-9002, otherwise contact me at the same number to discuss.
