Legal Question in Traffic Law in Maryland
Speedy Trial for Speeding Ticket
I received a citation for excessive speed from the Maryland State Police on Sept. 21. I was told that if I wanted to go to trial I did not need to do anything. After two moths a trial was scheduled, the notice was dated Nov 21. My trial was scheduled for Feb 6. Isn't this a violation of the 45 day rule for the right to a speedy trial?

Re: Speedy Trial for Speeding Ticket
Neither the 45 day rule nor the "Hicks" rule on presenting a criminal case for trial apply in the District Court where your speeding ticket trial is being held.
