Legal Question in Traffic Law in Maryland

Traffic Violation-Haunted us over 2yrs after!

My husband had a traffic violation in Delaware in September 2006, after one year and more, December 2007 he got a suspension notice in regards to this ticket, I remember calling and speaking to the MVA, and they weren't very helpful. I do believe that we were to disregard this. However my husband was arrested today, because of this. They have taken away his license, which he depends on to do his job. How can we get this back, and when? Also if this citation is no where to be found on his driving record, what are our rights here in MD? The citation number on the Suspension notice is different from the one on his driving records. Please help..thanks

You can go to MVA - there is a special counter that deals only with suspensions. It sounds like he may have had more than one DE ticket. Also, you may have to pay some kind of reinstatement fee to DE and/or MD before they give him the license.

I would also definitely get a lawyer for the charge of driving on a suspended license - he is facing a maximum of 1 year jail/$1000 fine/12 points for a driving suspended (only 60 days/$500/3 points if the only suspension was an unpaid ticket). And a lawyer will be able to advise the best route to take with dealing with the incredibly disorganized (and rude) MVA, depending on his particular situation.
